And well, that’s what makes them sloppy and tasty. Sloppy Joes find their root in the little innovation a Cook named Joe made in Sioux City, Iowa. He added tomato sauce to a loose meat sandwich and it became a great hit. This gave birth to Sloppy Joes and we have brought them to you in the form of an easy to follow recipe. So dig in!

Ingredients
- Beef mince 250 gms
- Small buns (as per need)
- Mozzarella cheese (grated) ½ cup
- Basal leaves a handful
- Oil 2 tbs
- Garlic cloves (crushed) 3 units
- Red chillies (crushed) 1 tbs
- Salt 1 tsp
- Oregano 1 tsp
- Onion (chopped) 1 unit
- Sugar 1 tsp
- Tomato puree/paste 1 cup
- Tomato Ketchup 2 tbs
- Garlic Chilli Sauce 2 tbs
Method
- Heat oil. Add onion, sauté, garlic, salt, oregano, sugar, crushed red chillies, and a little water. Add tomato ketchup, garlic chilli sauce and tomato puree and let it cook till it gets thick.
- Add the minced beef to the heated oil in the pan. Fry over high temperature until it gets completely brown. Pour in the sauce and leave to bubble until it gets thickened.
- Toast the buns lightly, lay the salad leaves, spread the mince over the flat side of the bun, sprinkle mozzarella cheese, and grill for 3-4 minutes, until the cheese melts and gets golden in color. Garnish with basil leaves.
